The second ASEAN Cultural Week in Vietnam bearing the theme ‘Traditional and Modern ASEAN Art’ will be opened on August 8 at the Hanoi Opera House and conclude in Tuan Chau Island, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.
A programme called ‘Ancient Vietnam’ will open the night at Hanoi Opera House. According to the rule, each country will send 14 delegates, including 10 artists. However, most of Southeast Asian countries have asked to raise the number of participating artists to 15 to the event and they said they were ready to cover all the expenses. Forty Vietnamese dancers and 12 singers will join the opening programme.
Artist of Merit Tran Binh is the general director of the programme.
After the performance of Vietnamese artists is the items of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Around 200 artists from 10 nations will stage to sing Songs for United ASEAN.
During two evenings of August 9 and 10, each night will be reserved for artists from five countries.
Each delegation will have 20 minutes for their performance.
With the theme ‘Traditional and Modern ASEAN Art’, the event aims to introduce various cultural features of member countries. A creative camp, ASEAN Fine Art Exhibition, traditional costumes show and ASEAN gastronomy will also be organised in Quang Ninh under the framework of the event.
