Ha Noi (VNA) - Viet Nam's biggest ever flower festival will be held in the resort city of Da Lat in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong from Dec. 10-18.
To prepare for this national flower carnival, which will be three times larger than the 2004 Da Lat Flower Festival, Lam Dong's authorities have decided to send 15 students from the provincial technical training school to the Netherlands to learn flower growing techniques and flower trading.
The Da Lat Flower Festival held from Dec. 18-25, 2004 was considered as the rehearsal for the 2005 national carnival, which will see the participation of several Dutch flower companies.
With the aim to introduce its culture and history, Da Lat's last flower festival attracted around 300,000 local and foreign visitors and earned estimated revenues of 100 billion VND.
Situated about 300 km north of Ho Chi Minh City at an altitude of over 1,500m above sea level, Da Lat enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures ranging between 16ºC and 24ºC throughout the year.
The city is renowned for its architecture that is reminiscent of a small French town, with charming villas of various sizes and designs hidden under green trees or surrounded by a variety of blossoming plants. It has become a refuge from oppressive heat for tourists and a home for various flowers from other localities and foreign countries to grow and blossom throughout the year.
The local authorities are doing their utmost to make their city become an ecotourist destination for domestic and foreign visitors.-Enditem
