Japan is to debut 100 Vietnamese contemporary paintings via a series of exhibitions held in five Japanese cities to the end of 2005, announced the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information.
As the largest cooperation of its kind, Japanese showrooms would display 100 works including 40 from the Vietnamese Museum of Fine Arts and the rest from the famous private collectors such as Bui Quoc Chi, Dao Danh Anh, Tran Trung Tin and Lam Son.
The event would be organized by Japan’s Fukuoka Museum under the sponsorship of Sankei Newspaper, said Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Culture and Information,
Organizers expect the series of exhibitions would help Japanese viewers gain a general understanding of contemporary art from Vietnam.
