VietNamNet Bridge – An exhibition and a seminar on Vietnamese lacquer painting will be held from November 15 to 30 in Hanoi to celebrate the APEC Summit.
The Ministry of Culture and Information has asked its department of fine art and photography to work with the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Hanoi Fine Art Conservatory to organise the event.
The exhibition is scheduled to see the participation of around 130 Vietnamese artists. A thorough history of lacquer painting in Vietnam since it originated will be introduced to audiences of the capital city as well as APEC delegates.
After the successes of the first generation of Vietnamese artists specialising in lacquer paintings such as Nguyen Gia Tri, Tran Van Can, Nguyen Khang, Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Nguyen Sang the new generation artists has also made great achievements in lacquer: Vu Duy Nghia, Da Minh Tri, Doan Van Nguyen, Truong Be, Dinh Quan and many more.
A seminar about traditional lacquer painting has been scheduled to take place during the exhibition.
The exhibition, the first of its kind in Vietnam, is hoped to show the value of the lacquer painting art in the country.
