HA NOI — The Republic of Korea’s First Lady Kwon Yang-suk and Vietnamese Minister of Culture and Information Le Doan Hop will jointly open the Korean Cultural Centre in Ha Noi tomorrow.
The centre is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and designed to promote cultural ties between Viet Nam and South Korea. It will also play a role in introducing Vietnamese culture to Korea.
Covering an area of some 1,000sq.m, the centre, located on Nguyen Du Street will host cultural events such as art exhibitions and seminars, in addition to Korean language classes.
The centre will also have a multimedia library where visitors will be able to carry out Korean research.
A series of month-long programmes covering music, cinema and literature are also planned.
The official opening ceremony, which has been brought forward to coincide with the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, will begin at 2pm. Among those attending will be Korean Ambassador Kim Eui-ki. — VNS
