VietNamNet Bridge – The city's Department of Tourism is encouraging professional and amateur photographers from Vietnam and other countries to contribute images on Vietnam's culture and lifestyle.
The third Snapshots of Vietnam contest, co-organised with the Saigon Times Weekly and the travel agency Vietravel, aims to market Vietnam to the world through visual art.
With the event's theme, Touches of the Countryside-Towns-Streets, organisers hope the participants' photos capture both traditional and modern perspectives on daily life.
The sponsors of the project are the HCM City Photographers Association and the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
"We encourage foreigners to join the contest because we believe they offer fresh views through their eyes," said veteran photographer Dong Duc Thanh, deputy chairman of the HCM City Photographers Association.
Entries should be original works that have not been entered in previous competitions or exhibited publicly. The deadline for entries is March 31. The award presentation ceremony and photo exhibition will be held in early May in HCM City.
