An initial fund of VND 20 billion will be reserved to restore and protect old houses in Hue central city where there are about 1,000 old houses and gardens.
This is under a decision recently made by the provincial People’s Committee of Thua Thien - Hue as many of these old houses are now becoming rundown.
First, some old houses will be restored on a trial basis. The provincial administration will provide interest free loans worth up to VND 70 million to local people to repaid their old houses. The loans will be refunded within three to seven years. Tours to old houses and gardens will also be organised to bring benefit to the locals.
The fund for restoration activities will be supplemented every year.
The project is planned to be implemented from this month.
