HCM CITY — Pleasant Childhood Memories, an exhibition of oil paintings by local artist Le A has opened in HCM City.
The collection draws inspiration from the formative years the artist spent living in the mountainous region of northern Hoa Binh Province.
Le A’s juxtaposition of bold and gentle colours captures the simplicity and tranquillity of traditional rural life in Viet Nam, and can be seen in paintings like Tending Cattle, Happiness and Friends.
"The vision of my native village being as beautiful as a fairyland is always on my mind and each painting represents my memories of Hoa Binh Province, " said the 40-year-old painter at the opening of her solo– and first in HCM City – exhibition.
Also on display is the series of her two daughter’s portraits, Small Roses.
Le A graduated from the HCM City’s Agriculture College in 1987 and the Fine Arts College in 2002. In the past year, she has taken part in several group exhibitions in HCM City.
"I like painting and I want to receive professional artistic training," she said.
The exhibition of Le A’s 22 works at the Mai’s Gallery, 16 Nguyen Hue St, Dist 1, will last until November 27. — VNS
