Cast-iron guns and bronze artefacts including cooking pots, pan and teakettle have been discovered in northern Quang Ninh and Thai Binh provinces.
Two cannons believed to be made 200 years ago by foreigners were found in Dam Ha commune in the Dam Ha district, northern Quang Ninh province, which used to be a citadel under the Le, Mac and Nguyen dynasties.
One of the two cannons weighs 200 kilograms and the other 500 kilograms. A local resident came across the guns while extracting sand in the area early November.
Bronze artefacts dating to the 19th century were also found and given to the northern province of Thai Binh's museum.
Workers at the construction site of a nursery school discovered a terra cotta jar which contained 11 bronze pots, one pan and one teapot inscribed with ornate decorations. (VNA)
