Arts activities take place at Hue Festival (June 15, 2004)

More than 300 artists from 14 water puppet troupes of Hanoi and northern Thai Binh, Ha Tay and Bac Ninh provinces performed at the 2004 Hue Festival on June 14.

This is the first time Thua Thien-Hue province upgraded the Tinh Tam lake for water puppet performances.

Also on June 14, almost 1,000 bonsai trees, 140 fine stone arts works and 17 fossil plant samples were exhibited at the Vuon Mai Park. Meanwhile, 47 artists from Hanoi, HCM City and former imperial Hue city displayed their works at the Morin Hotel on the Huong (Perfurme) river bank.

The Hue folk music programme, the "Vietnam timbre" programme and the France-Viet Nam photo exhibition will also be held on the sidelines of the nine-day festival that kicked off on June 12.

Hue was the first city in Vietnam to be recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
