Some 100 classic paintings of the Vietnam's modern art in the first period will be displayed at the Duc Minh Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City from July 26.

Visitors will have a chance to witness famous works of painters graduated from the Indochina Fine Arts College since 1920s with romantic images of Hanoi girls in the oil painting of painter To Ngoc Van, 'street' painting of Bui Xuan Phai, silk paintings imbued with the national soul of Nguyen Phan Chanh, immortal lacquer paintings by Nguyen Gia Tri or one of the four paintings left in Vietnam of Nguyen Tuong Lan. Viewers can also enjoy paintings of outstanding artists of the Vietnam's modern art in the first period, including artists Nam Son, Le Pho, Le Ba Dang, Nguyen Tien Chung, Le Thi Luu, Le Huy Mien etc. Particularly, on display will also be a painting named 'Young Girl' painted in 1929 by artist Victor Tardieu who was former rector of the Indochina Fine Arts College. The owner of the gallery, Bui Duc Chi, has just won this painting from an auction in Singapore.
