Sixth national arts congress opens in Hanoi (December 23, 2004)

VietNamNet The two-day sixth congress of the Vietnam Arts Association opens in Hanoi today, December 23.

According to the Secretary General of the Vietnam Arts Association, the congress will focus discussions on rampant copyright violations, the commercialising tendency in arts, and the movement to build statues.

Established in 1957, the Vietnam Arts Association has nearly 1,500 members to date.

The association has so far organised more than 100 of the total 300 art exhibitions held in Vietnam since 1957.

The association has also assisted 591 artists to create 866 artworks under the State order placing mechanism.
