Art defines nation in war and peace

New beginnings: Spring in My Country by Tran Ngoc Thuy
HA NOI — War and peace is the theme of two exhibitions in Ha Noi to mark War Invalids and Martyrs Day on Saturday.

A photo exhibition, on display at the Viet Nam Culture and Art Exhibition Centre, Remaining Grief, comprises more than 150 shots by Vietnamese photographers.

These depict the victims of American bombs, Agent Orange and the efforts to recover from the devastation of the war. The exhibition also displays the works of Japanese journalist Ishikawa Bunzo who has published the photo journal Viet Nam, 35 Years War and Peace.

The other, a painting exhibition, I Draw on War and Peace, displays more than 100 works by HCM City children. It depicts the children’s heartfelt emotion about the consequences of war and their dreams of a peaceful world, where all nations live as friends with each other.

The two exhibitions, which will run through Wednesday, will move to Denmark in November and Japan in March next year.
