Korea launches Vietnam culture website (February 27, 2005)

A website for Koreans who love Vietnam and its literature has been launched.

The site, www.vietnam-korea.org, is designed to broaden Korea and Vietnam’s cultural relationship.

Sponsored by the Republic of Korea’s Cultural Improvement Institute, the site provides information and details about Vietnamese authors and their most prominent works in Korean language.

The website’s designer Bae Yang Soo who is head of the Pusan Foreign Languages University’s Vietnam faculty, said the site focuses on the country’s contemporary literature which developed during the French and American wars.

Readers can satisfy their appetites with several poems, documenting Vietnam’s historic events during the two wars, created by well-known writers Le Anh Xuan, Pham Tien Duat, Huu Loan and Phung Quan.

Short stories and novels, written by young authors during the country’s period of doi moi (renewal), are also introduced.

Additionally, ancient poetical works by outstanding talents Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Binh Khiem and Doan Thi Diem, provide readers with an insight into the history and growth of the Vietnamese language.
