Van Hanh Zen Monastery in Central Highlands city of Da Lat, Lam Dong Province, inaugurated a statue of Sakyamuni, the biggest in Vietnam.
The construction began in April 2002 at total investment of more than VND1.2bil, funded by contributions.
The frame of the statue is made of reinforced concrete and covered by white cement and gypsum.
Located on the Van Hanh Zen Monastery, the statue is 24m high and 20m wide. The local community hopes it will be seen not simply as a religious work, but also as a valuable artwork.
