Cham sculptures restored for Paris exhibit (April 05, 2005)

The Cham Museum in Da Nang City.
Under a cooperation programme between Vietnam and France, 24 Cham sculpture works have been restored successfully.

The restored works are now on display at the Cham Museum in central Da Nang City, 24 out of 54 works selected for restoration during 2000-05 under a programme employing experts from France, Cambodia and Vietnam.

According to Ha Phuoc Mai of the Da Nang Museum, the 24 pieces will be exhibited in Paris this autumn.

The Cham Museum now holds more than 450 Cham sculpture works collected from sites throughout the region. The restoration centre in Da Nang, a joint project between the Cham Museum, France’s Vien Dong Bac Co Institute, the Asia-Guimet-Paris Museum and the French Embassy in Vietnam, is the only such facility in Vietnam.
