Hanoi artist wins design competition (April 18, 2005)

Tran Manh Linh, a 24-year-old lecturer from the College of Fine Arts in Hanoi, has recently won a contest to design a logo that signifies friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and the United States.

At the award presentation ceremony in Hanoi last Friday, US Ambassador Michael W Marine presented the prize to Linh.

The contestís second prize went to Tran Le Van, a resident of Hanoi and Linhís younger sister.

Nguyen Minh Thanh Huy from Ho Chi Minh City who won third prize was unable to attend the ceremony.

The US Embassy, the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry for Culture and Information held the contest in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the normalisation of relations between the two countries.

The contest received a total of 32 entries.
