The Vietnam Historical Science Association will also launch a book on the exhibit.
The Vietnam Historical Science Association will open its exhibit, “Vietnam in the Early 20th Century Through Antique Postcards”, at L’Espace in Hanoi May 26 in the afternoon.

After the exhibition there will be a seminar on the topic “Old Postcards in Vietnam - A Special Historical Source” for Vietnamese and French researchers.

The early 20th Century saw a prosperous period of postcards thanks to advanced photographic technology. Not only did post cards help visitors capture their memories of travel, but they also have historical significance by reflecting the various cultural and social eras.

The first series of postcards about history and lifestyle in Indochina was published in 1900. From 1900 to 1914, mainly in Vietnam, there were as many as 70 publishers producing 18,000 different styles.

The Vietnam Historical Science Association will also launch a book on the exhibit.
