Nora Taylor, big critic name for Vietnamís arts (July 12, 2005)

Nora Annesley Taylor.
For 15 years, the name of Nora Taylor has been well-known among Vietnamese painters for her knowledge of modern Vietnamese art.

Nora Taylor is a professor at Arizona State University in the US. Studying Vietnamís art since the 1990s, she has become one of the first foreign scholars with a deep knowledge of the Vietnamese painters who grew up during the war of resistance against the French.

Taylor has also developed a strong knowledge of the lives and careers of Vietnamese painters. Her book, ďPainters in Hanoi: An Ethnography of Vietnamese ArtĒ, published by the University of Hawaiiís Public House in 2004, is one of the few showing the impact of fine arts on Vietnamese life.

She has also thoroughly studied Vietnamese art of the last 15 years and says the scene currently lacks brilliant painters and experienced critics.

Currently in Vietnam on a Fulbright Scholarship, Taylor says Vietnamese art has always been her interest and her lifeís work.
