Hanoi hosts fair to display ethnic minority costumes, brocade (July 27, 2005)


An exhibition of costumes and patterned brocade of the Vietnamese ethnic minority groups is being held at the Vietnam Culture and Art Exhibition Center in capital Hanoi city from July 26 to August 1.

The exhibition has some 120 costumes worn by several ethnic minority groups across the country in their daily and ceremonial activities.

Also, hundreds of photos capturing the daily lives of ethnic minority groups as well as production techniques of the brocade costumes are being shown at the exhibition.

During the six-day event, a number of artisans from the Pa Then and H'Mong ethnic minority groups will also demonstrate to visitors the way to weave their specialty tho cam fabric, print wax patterns and make embroideries.
