Vietnamese painter becomes first foreign member of Japanese IAA (September 12, 2005)


Artist Nguyen Dinh Dang has became the first foreign member of the Japanese Individual Artists' Association (IAA) in its 41-year history.

Dang, also a member of the Fine Arts Association of Vietnam, is one of 8 award recipients at the 41st IAA exhibition held at the Tokyo Fine Arts Museum.

"Ocean in Winter" and "Innocence" are Dang's two paintings displayed at the exhibition, which also showcased 177 works by 165 painters selected from 480 entries.

Nguyen Dinh Dang, born in Hanoi in 1958, was a Russian-trained physicist. The doctorate holder now conducts theoretical research on nuclear physics in Japan. (VNA)
