French Vietnamese artist presents paintings in HCM (October 30, 2006)


VietNamNet Bridge - Mihaqui’s exhibition themed Ve Nguon (Back to the source) was just launched at Tu Do Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City.

Born in Phu Tho in 1945, at the age of 13 Mihaqui moved to France with his family.

This is the third time he has come back to Vietnam to introduce 23 of his newest paintings. Mihaqui’s paintings present what he feels about the life as well as carrying the ponderings of a person who is mixed and has two homelands, such as the paintings Hai dong mau (Two blood lines), Vet nut (Cracking), etc, or sometimes it describes cultural differences like Choang, (Shocking), and Con loc (Whirlwind).

In some of his paintings Mihaqui also expresses his wish for a better future such as Rang dong (Sunrise) or Bo cuc xanh (Green arrangement), etc.

The exhibition will be open until November 11.
