VietNamNet Bridge Art lovers will have a chance to see with their own eyes how artist Le Phuong Dong makes a wood-engraving painting at his exhibition in HCM City on November 17.

At the exhibition, which will open at Idecaf, 31 Thai Van Lung Street, artist Le Phuong Dong will exhibit some of his wood-engraving paintings, which depict Vietnamese landscapes as well as the daily lives of Vietnamese people.

The artist selected wood-engraving paintings as his major form of expression because he loves it and is very proud of the very unique Vietnamese art. Dong Ho and Hang Trong paintings (artworks are engraved on wood, copper and gypsum then being printed on giay do a special type of handmade paper).

The artist was born in Hanoi, but his hometown is now HCM City. Le Phuong Dong graduated from the HCM City Arts University in 1997. He has participated in many domestic, regional and international exhibitions.

He is now a member of the Vietnam Arts Association and a lecturer at the HCM City Teacher Training College.
