Hanoi artists take northern style to HCMC exhibition (November 23, 2006)

A work named "Courage" is on display in the exhibition.
VietNamNet Bridge Nine northern artists are on display oil and lacquer paintings along with sculptures at the Autumn Meetings exhibition at HCMC Fine Arts Museum.

The exhibition is a meeting among artists who graduated from Hanoi Fine Art College 30 years ago. The show brings an array of works together that use different mediums and styles in various genres.

"The exhibition highlights the richness and diversity of contemporary art. Aside from that, it introduces the northern art style to art enthusiasts," Ngo Chuong, one of the nine artists, says.

Artists like Ngo Chuong, Dao Nguyen Da Thao, Nguyen Ha Bac and Do Lenh Hung Tu have brought paintings featuring landscapes of ancient Hanoi and the beauty of nature, such as Ancient Town, Gold Autumn and Flower.

Many works by Bui Suoi Hoa and Le Xuan Chieu show their inspiration from activities of daily life and the beauty of Vietnamese women. With hot color schemes and a free arrangement style, Chieu's oil paintings depict some images of minority women living in mountainous areas.

Sculpture works also occupy an impressive amount of space in the exhibition rooms with Bui Mai Hien and Le The Hien's installation works portraying the climate changes and Yin and Yang philosophy.

The exhibition is on at the HCMC Fine Arts Museum at 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1 and until December 19.
