Photojournalist snaps up overseas prize hat-trick

HA NOI — Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s photographer Le Hong Linh has added yet another prestigious international award to a growing collection.

Lop Hoc Vung Cao (A Classroom in the Highlands) was awarded first prize at the Sixth Caja Vital Kutxa competition in Spain.

The photograph received the bronze medal at the VN02 International Art Photograph Competition in Viet Nam earlier this year.

Linh’s winning image was taken at a primary classroom in Bao Loc District in the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Lam Dong.

Linh also won first prize for Me Va Con (Mother and Child) at the same competition in Spain four years ago.

Both Lop Hoc Vung Cao and Me Va Con have been donated to a Spanish photographic museum.

And in August, Linh’s black and white Song Cat (Sandy Waves) won silver prizes at both the 27th Art Photograph Competition in Hong Kong, and the US International Photo Festival.

Linh has won ten international prizes since the beginning of the year, and 50 in total over the course of his career.
