An ancient brass drum was discovered in the 1.2 metre deep underground in Van Dong hamlet, Thien Ke commune, Son Duong district of Tuyen Quang northern mountainous province five days ago.
The drum was found by a man named Do Van Duong together with three young people of San Diu ethnic minority group while he was digging in his garden.
The drum has a diameter of 70.5 centimetres, a height of 44.5 centimetres and weights 33 kilograms.
According to experts, this drum was as ancient as the Dong Son brass drum, which is approximately 2,500 years ago.
