2,000-year-old tombs found in southern province (May 20, 2003)


VUNG TAU Fifty-four ancient tombs, approximately 2,000 years old, have been unearthed in Long Son Commune of southern coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The discovery was made by the Viet Nam Historical Museum and the Provincial Museum and included sets of remains as well as more than 1,600 artefacts made of earth, glass, stone, steel and gold.

The five excavation sites totalling 350sq.m found evidence that the ancient oc Eo people led prosperous lives.
