ASEAN Art Awards launched in Hanoi (June 11, 2003)

ASIAN Art Awards 2003
The 7th Vietnam-ASEAN Art Awards 2003-2004, was launched by Philip Moris Vietnam S.A, in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The competition is open to all Vietnamese citizens who are at least 18 years of age. An artist may submit a painting or two-dimensional artwork, including those using synthetic materials.

Artists may explore any subject or theme, but entries, must be originals from within the past two years, with sizes defined by the organising board. They have been recently exhibited but must not be entered in any other competition.

The top five entries will be selected for National Awards. Each choice will receive a cash prize of VND50 million (US$3,200), a trophy and a trip to the ASEAN Art Awards Exhibition and Competition in Chiang Mai, Thailand, next year. The company will also present a regional first prize worth US$15,000 and four second prizes, each worth US$5,000.

The awards ceremony will be held in Hanoi on October 17. Since 1996, Vietnam has participated in the Awards six times with more than 1,000 artists having submitted works to the jury, which won five Jurorís Choice prizes.
