Cutting-edge representations of current affairs are on view at an exhibition of cartoons that opened in the capital city yesterday.

The exhibition showcases more than 200 pieces by 25 artists from Hanoi, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh and Ha Nam provinces, who have captured the challenges of modern, daily life through cartoons, comics and caricatures.
The artists have highlighted issues and questions surrounding corruption, commercial and construction fraud, environmental pollution, traffic violations, drug addiction and prostitution.
With pencils, charcoal and paper, the cartoonists' feature the traditions of satire and caricature using metaphors, and ludicrous exaggerations of people and things.
The exhibition is on display until July 11 at Vietnam Fine Arts Association's showroom at 16 Ngo Quyen Street in Hanoi.
