Christie’s to bang gavel on antiques (November 05, 2003)

Some 16 samples of the antiques have gone to Australia to attract bids.
An Australian branch of antique auctioneer Christie’s has been chosen to handle the gavel during the auction of antiques salvaged from a shipwreck in the Binh Thuan Sea.

Christie’s representatives arrived in Binh Thuan to view 61,000 antiques, including nearly 200 kinds of pottery works produced in Zhangzhou (Fujian) and Shantou (Guangdong).

The contractor and Binh Thuan authorities have agreed to sell 17,000 antiques in the first round of auctions.

Some 16 samples of the antiques have gone to Australia to attract bids. The first auction will be held in Melbourne, Australia in early 2004.
