VietNamNet - The winners of the ASHUI Architecture Contest 2003 were revealed on the evening of November 22 at the Hanoi Opera House.

The Contest, themed An idea for a beautiful street corner, was co-sponsored by Hanoi People's Committee and the Vietnam Architect's Association.

According to the organisers, 42 plans were entered in the contest, most of which were works by young architects and students from architecture and construction universities.

"More than 10 of the entries were impressive ideas", said Editor-in-chief of Architecture Magazine Pham Thanh Tung, "They were romantic but also feasible, and some were of a professional standard".

The top prize was awarded to the five-member group of Nguyen Tri Tan, Nguyen Dong Giang, Le Dang Tung, Dang Tat Thang and Le Minh Tuan. Their Daily life Street plan turns Gia Ngu street into a nice stop for pedestrians.

The second prize went to Gallery Tonkin's Art plan, a reconstruction of the water tower at the Hang Dau flower garden. This is the work of Bui Quang Minh, Phung Trung Hau and Maria Isabel Gabario Bertran.

The third prize was awarded to Tran Ngoc Hieu and Le Hong Minh.

The finalist's plans will be exhibited at 38 Hang Dao from November 24 to 27.
