Concert set to raise $30,000 for Agent Orange victims (December 04, 2003)

HCM CITY — Organisers of a charity concert featuring a galaxy of musical performers hope to raise at least VND500 million (US$30,000) tonight to support disabled children that are Agent Orange victims.

The Kind Heart concert, held at the Municipal Opera House by the HCM City Association for Disabled Children will feature performances by the city’s top singers including Cam Van, Hong Nhung, Phuong Thao and Ngoc Le.

Young music stars such as Phuong Thanh, Dam Vinh Hung, Quang Linh, Phuong Thao and Trio 666 group will also spice up the show with their latest creations.

The fund-raising music programme is part of the cultural and festive activities hosted by the Association and the Municipal People’s Committee to welcome the International Day for Disabled People which falls on December 3. The events aim to entertain and brighten the lives of the disabled and raise money to support handicapped people.

According to organisers, more than VND400 million has already been raised from the show, with major donors including Tenamyd Pharmaceuticals of Canada, Viettronic Bien Hoa-Belco and Diana.

The concert will take place at 8pm at the Opera House, Lam Son Square in District 1 with tickets avaiable at the venue. — VNS
