Bronze linga unearthed in Lam Dong Province (January 05, 2004)

The first copper linga has been unearthed at a dig by the Archaeology Centre under the HCM City Institute for Social and Humanitarian Sciences.

The linga was found inside a temple at an archaeological excavation on Kiem Lam Hill, Quang Ngai Commune, Cat Tien District, Lam Dong Province.

The linga is 51cm high, 24cm wide, 9kg weigh and has a thickness of 5mm.

At another archaeological site, 1.5km away from the primary site, archaeologists are also speculating on a large area of temples covering 1,000sq.m on a hill looking over the Dong Nai River to the east. At the second site, they have found statues of Ganesha and Uma, carved from dark green stone.
