Ha Noi, Jan. 6 (VNA)-June 12-20, 2004 is scheduled time for '2004 Hue Festival' on the theme of "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development."

Like the first festival held in 2000 in the Imperial City of Hue, 2004 Hue Festival will be a confluence of many arts and cultures. Besides art troupes coming from France, a main organiser for 2004 Hue Festival, artists and instrumentalists from China, Russia and Argentina have registered to participate in the biennial festival.

The Imperial City will be the centre of the festival. Art performances will take place in Dai Noi (the Inner City of the Hue Citadel), the An Dinh Palace and Tinh Tam Lake. Hue Court Music, a newly-recognized world intangible cultural heritage, will be the main music to be shown by Vietnamese art troupes.

2004 Hue Festival will also feature gastronomy, calligraphy, "ao dai" (traditional Vietnamese dress) fashion shows, exhibitions on paintings and images, handicrafts and tourism services.

As part of 2004 Hue Festival, the 3rd international sculpture camp will be held in the central city of Thua Thien-Hue in May.

2004 Hue Festival will close with a night festival of flowers and coloured lanterns on Huong River. 2004 Hue Festival will certainly be a Vietnamese and regional cultural forum which will create more opportunities for Viet Nam to expand cultural exchange and develop tourism.

Currently, the local authority is making a huge investment in refurbishing the city. A segment on Nguyen Dinh Chieu road which includes many restaurants and recreational areas, will be pedestrianised.-Enditem
