Art regulations to come to the fore (September 02, 2004)

Asian exhibits show art rising up from oppression (April 27, 2003)
 Artists bear witness to and try to make sense of the world's horrors. Sometimes it's their only way to survive. Often, their art clears a path for the rest of us to understanding and healing. The Brush Art Gallery in Lowell and the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University have shows up that feature works made after two of the worst acts of oppression in Asia in the last 50 years: the Cultural Revolution in China from 1966 to 1976 and the genocide of more than a million Cambodians perpetrated by the dictator Pol Pot from 1975 to 1979.
Asian performance art festival to open in Hanoi (September 28, 2004)
 Six Asian cities will send representatives to the Asian Performance Art Festival from October 1-6 in Hanoi.
A street painting sold at US $10,000 at festival Hue (June 18, 2004)
 A 1.5 m x 10 m painting called ‘Du Ca Doi Nguoi’ (Song for Human Life) by painter Pham Trinh was bought by a tourist from the US, Ms Carol Scribner at US $10.000.
Auction records set for Vietnamese paintings (October 12, 2003)
 Sotheby's Auction of Southeast Asian Paintings held on October 12, 2003 at the Regent Singapore totaled S$7,196,020 with 150 lots sold. Several auction records were fetched including the most expensive Vietnamese painting sold at auction, record for works by Vietnamese artists Le Pho, Luong Xuan Nhi, Vu Cao Dam, Indonesian artists Widayat and But Mochtar.
